2025 Colors & Styles for Extensions
So long, flat, boring hair. With the rise of the hair-thinning market and more consumers ditching bleach and chemical coloring, 2025 calls for bold, voluminous locks that also maintain the natural strands. In other words, extensions.
From It-girl colors to ethereal length, we’ve projected the top styles for extensions set to make waves in 2025.
1. Sunflower Blonde
Warm and golden, this shade first grew traction in the second half of 2024 (notably Zendaya’s Challengers press tour) but is on track to remain in demand as we enter 2025. Although ash and icy blondes may be top of mind for winter months, many appreciate how this color brightens the face and is easier to maintain. Plus, for those who followed some of fall’s copper hair trends, achieving the warm tones of sunflower blonde is even easier to replicate.

2. 70s Waves
Charli XCX’s cascading hip-length waves make an appearance at every brat show, and we’ll likely see them at her 2025 arena tour as well. Like the carefree locks of the 70s, this hairstyle embraces an intentional messy look and dramatic length.

3. Cherry Red Hair
Yes, Dua Lipa sported the shade for the better part of fall 2024. No, we’re still not over this rich, deep hue. With searches for “cherry red hair” increasing over the past season, we forecast even more clients stepping into salons to request Dua-inspired hairstyles with extensions.
Apart from the obvious benefit of boosted length and volume, extensions have another edge over dye as well. 4. Natural Minimalism
#haircare has over 2.8 million posts on TikTok and Cosmetics Business reports that both hair growth and “glass hair” are top of mind for consumers. And while some assume that a healthy hair routine cannot co-exist with extension wear, the two often work hand in hand. In fact, for anyone wanting to celebrate their natural color and avoid bleaching, extensions may be the best way to go.
@alexawilliamshair’s client, for example, has undergone a serious hair-health journey, but the pair agreed that life’s too short to wait for your dream hair. With hair trend forecaster Tom Smith announcing the return of “the set” and other celebs like Kendall Jenner debuting Monroe-esque ringlets for the Academy Museum Gala, there’s no better time to achieve this dramatic style with extensions.

7. Blunt Lob
The shoulder-length chops popularized in the late 2010s emerged with a sweep of celebrity cuts on social media—take Kim Kardashian’s 2017 hairstyle, for example.
