Her platform goes beyond hair, empowering stylists to trust their instincts, build their identity, and create work that feels like their own. From her Los Angeles salon to her upcoming expansion in Amsterdam, Larisa continues to grow her brand with purpose. Through her tours, education, and product line, she’s not just creating tools, she’s building a movement for the next generation of artists.
We sat down with Larisa while on the set of our latest Babe shoot to get tea on her passion for hair and help paint the picture on why this partnership makes total sense.
You've been in the hair industry for quite some time now, and it seems like hair has been in your DNA since you were young. Can you walk us through your journey a little bit?
Ever since I was young, I have been obsessed with transformation, creativity, and making people feel confident through beauty. I started behind the chair at a really young age and built everything from the ground up through passion, hard work, and never giving up on myself even in moments where I doubted if I belonged in this industry.
Over the years I’ve grown from being a stylist behind the chair to an educator, salon owner, global artist, and creator of my own tools/products for other artists. But at the core of it all, I still see myself as just an artist who genuinely loves hair and loves helping people feel like the best version of themselves.
You are a staple in the hair industry. What is the most unexpected thing you’ve learned behind the chair?
It's not just about hair; it's really about the feeling that the client wants to achieve. Whether they are preparing for a date, a wedding, or another special occasion, it's about creating a look that aligns with their excitement and anticipation. The ability and knowledge we have to transform someone into the version of themselves they desire is unmatched. There’s truly nothing like it. It's the best part of what I do.
Babe X Larisa feels like a match made in heaven. How'd this come to fruition?
It actually started a couple years ago when I was looking for extensions to wear for my wedding. To be honest, I have tried almost every hair extension brand out there, and there is nothing like Babe. When I have it in my hair, it just feels so healthy and shiny, so strong, and so thick from mids to ends, and I just knew that I needed it. I haven’t looked back since.
You've previously mentioned that Babe is the only extension brand you use (yay), why is that the case? What is it about Babe that you trust?
I need products that perform every single time because my clients trust me with their hair, confidence, and investment. Babe has always delivered that.
The quality of the hair is incredible, the blend is seamless, the hair feels luxurious, the install options are versatile, and most importantly, the integrity of the hair holds up. I also love that Babe truly supports professional stylists and educators. That is huge for me because I believe education is what elevates our industry.
As an artist, I’m very particular about what I align myself with, and I would never use or promote something I don’t genuinely believe in. Babe is a brand I trust both professionally and creatively, which is why it has been my go-to for years.
You're now a pro extensionist with Babe, we're surprised you haven't done this sooner
First, it was the stigma around extensions causing breakage, which is absolutely not true. Now that I have the knowledge, the skill, and the tools, I know that your hair can actually get healthier.
Second, I’m known for really fast techniques as a colorist, and I've always thought that extensions take a really long time. Now that I have tools like Tape-Ins and Quick Fit Tape Weft, I can create and transform so quickly.
You're known for your thoughtful and thorough client consultations. Can we expect anything new or different with extension clients?
Transparency is also important in my consultations. Giving the client the knowledge of how much it's going to cost, how often they need to come in for maintenance, and how to best take care of their extensions—all of those come into play by giving your client the knowledge before you start putting anything in their hair.
I am hoping to lift the veil of mystery and possibly debunk some myths that both clients and other stylists might have around extensions.
